Principal Message
Peacemakers vs. Problem Solvers
by Yulius Maran | Principal of Regina Pacis Senior High School
Regina Pacis Jakarta Senior High School has passed the remarkable milestone of half a century. As an educational institution that has thrived for over 50 years, Regina Pacis continuously reflects on how to improve its educational services to ensure a learning environment that is not only safe and comfortable but also relevant and contextual. Over time, Recis (short for Regina Pacis) and Recisians—a name given to the school community members who embody the spirit of the Queen of Peace, as well as its alumni—have become symbols of a living tradition. As of July 2023, Regina Pacis Senior High School has served a total of 7,054 students.
Cultivating Peacemakers
The waves of change in this era demand that global citizens constantly improve themselves, ensuring that noble values and aspirations are realized in relevant and meaningful ways. Aware of this challenge, Regina Pacis Senior High School has strategically positioned itself to continually guide and nurture students to grow in harmony with the spirit of the times.
Regina Pacis is strongly committed to designing an integrative program combining Intracurricular, Co-curricular, and Extracurricular activities. This integrative program is built on five pillars: the National Curriculum, the International Curriculum, Character Development, Digital Transformation, and the Development of Future Skills. We believe that these five pillars are essential for shaping students into intelligent, resilient, and faithful individuals.
The synergy of these three essential components naturally forms Peacemakers. A Peacemaker is, in fact, a Problem Solver. Our students are constantly engaged in critical thinking, scientific methods, and design thinking, all while balancing their lives through the spirituality of the Queen of Peace to achieve holistic student well-being.
This student well-being is embedded into our National Curriculum. Students are trained to take responsibility for their learning achievements, independently design creative and innovative learning strategies, and engage in daily reflection on their learning journey.
In terms of socio-spiritual growth, SEMEDI (Ten Minutes with Oneself) serves as a reflective symbol of a true Recisian. Every day, the entire school community takes a break from their activities between 1:50–2:00 PM to quietly reflect together. The fruits of these reflections, shared by students, teachers, and staff, enrich the community as blessings and collective growth.
Students experience international exposure through student exchange programs with Fukuoka Girls’ School, Japan, and Sacred Heart Girls’ College Oakleigh, Melbourne. This experience is strengthened by the International Curriculum, which trains students in critical thinking, creativity, socio-emotional skills, and global diversity. Moreover, Regina Pacis is supported by both local and expatriate teachers, who deliver specialized programs in Science Math Projects, English, and enrichment activities.
The embodiment of CHIPS—Compassion, Humility, Integrity, Peace, and Servant Leadership—is our core vision. We do not merely teach these values conceptually; we integrate them into the daily lives of our students. Through this commitment to character development, our school focuses on themes that foster socio-emotional and spiritual growth.
In the process of learning and character development, Regina Pacis integrates progressive digital transformation and maintains a strong commitment to improving future skills to support students’ career development. In this regard, Regina Pacis Senior High School serves as a miniature version of real life, where project-based integrative learning prepares students for their future endeavors.
